Kitchen Assistant role:
* Assist with washing, peeling and basic preparation of ingredients.
* Support cooking and meal assembly under the direction of the Head Cook or Catering Manager.
* Serve food to pupils and staff in a friendly and efficient manner, maintaining portion control and presentation standards.
* Prepare dining areas, counters, serving stations and equipment.
* Clean kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces in line with food hygiene standards.
* Wash and sanitise dishes, trays and cutlery.
* Follow food safety regulations for the correct storage and handling of food.
* Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain a clean and organised kitchen.
* Assist with stock rotation, storage and basic inventory tasks.
* Receive and store deliveries in accordance with food safety guidelines.
* Report equipment faults, hazards or shortages to the Head Cook or Catering Manager.
* Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
* Follow school safeguarding, Health and Safety and hygiene policies.
* Support special events, themed menus and school functions
Kitchen Assistant pay:
£13.00 per hour
