How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Feed Engineer - C&I FECS

The Senior Project Engineer (C&I) will provide dedicated Control & Instrumentation discipline capability within the FEED team while leading and managing FEED-stage engineering projects for company operations and external clients.

The role is accountable for clear scope definition, robust technical inputs and high-quality, execution-ready FEED deliverables. It coordinates multidisciplinary contributors, budgets, schedules, risks and stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient outcomes to programme, quality and commercial targets.

    Basic Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

    Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

    Experience

    * Minimum of five years’ experience in design, project engineering, or consultancy within a relevant industry sector.

    * Proven experience in discipline-specific engineering and project delivery through FEED and into execution ready handover.

    * Experience in the energy sector (particularly downstream oil & gas), high-hazard industrial sites or remote pipeline locations is highly desirable.

    * Experience coordinating multi-discipline inputs and managing interfaces between brownfield sites and live operational environments is desirable.

    * Experience supporting procurement activities (technical bid evaluation, vendor clarification, and recommendations to award) is advantageous.

    Responsibilities:

    FEED project delivery

    * Manage FEED projects ranging from small single-discipline studies to large, multi-discipline EPC-style FEED projects, typically in downstream oil and gas brownfield environments.

    * Take accountability for end-to-end delivery, from initial approval through to execution-ready FEED handover.

    * Lead scope definition, assumptions, interfaces and change control, with clear progress reporting and visible management of cost, schedule, quality and risk.

    * Own technical delivery within the C&I discipline across multiple FEED scopes, ensuring C&I inputs are coordinated, reviewed and suitable for project handover.

    * Close out FEED and study reports to agreed client expectations and support the team in regaining control of outstanding deliverables.

    C&I technical leadership

Provide practical C&I engineering judgement and discipline leadership across FEED studies and project scopes.

Define C&I scope, assumptions, interfaces, risks, actions and technical inputs in coordination with other engineering disciplines.

Lead or support structured design and FEED reviews, maintaining the quality, accuracy and traceability of C&I decisions, changes and approvals.

Guide discipline engineers and manage contract or agency resources where required.

Embed safety by design and ensure C&I work complies with applicable industry codes, standards, procedures, client specifications and HSSEQ requirements.

    Commercial, planning and procurement

Prepare reliable project estimates, budgets, programmes and registers, aligned with client requirements and approved constraints.

Control project hours, productivity and cost forecasts, identifying opportunities to enhance value through scope optimisation and effective work planning.

Prepare technical and commercial documentation for procurement, evaluate tenders and support recommendations for contract award.

Manage relevant commercial and contractual interfaces with suppliers, contractors and clients, including technical bid evaluations and invoice authorisation within delegated authority.

    Client and stakeholder engagement

Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders through clear, professional and transparent communication.

Manage scope, assumptions, approvals, interfaces and change with clients, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.

Support client satisfaction, repeat business, proposal development and wider FEED team growth through reliable delivery.

    Qualifications

    * HND or degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.

    * Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution (or working towards) is desirable.

    * Chartered or Incorporated engineer status (CEng/IEng) or demonstratable progress towards professional registration is desirable.

    * Valid UK driving licence

    Skills:

    * Strong organisational skills with attention to detail; ability to define problems, analyse data, draw conclusions, and present findings clearly.

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce well-structured technical documentation and deliver confident presentations.

    * Computer literacy in standard office applications; familiarity with project management tools and specialist engineering software (e.g., hydraulic/flow modelling, stress analysis) is advantageous.

    * Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances and project requirements.

    Benefits:

    * Ongoing training and development opportunities to support your professional growth

    * Generous pension (up to 12% employer contribution, 2% minimum employee)

    * Annual bonus scheme (up to 12% of annual salary) with an extra 6% possible for standout performance

    * Life insurance (4x annual salary)

    * 28 days standard holiday + 8 days bank holiday - plus the ability to buy/sell holidays

    * Family friendly policies from day 1 of employment

    * An award winning Private Medical Insurance scheme with additional perks

    * Employee assistance support scheme

    * Various well-being initiatives
