How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description:

    Trainee Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a growing manufacturing facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who has recently completed a mechanical engineering course, apprenticeship, or relevant qualification and is looking to begin a long-term career within industrial maintenance.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will receive full training and support while developing your skills in a busy production environment. This role offers genuine opportunities for progression and career development within a growing business.

    The Role

As a Trainee Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will assist the engineering team with planned and reactive maintenance activities across a range of industrial production equipment and site services.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.

    * Supporting experienced engineers with mechanical fault finding and repairs.

    * Learning to maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, motors, agitators, valves and associated equipment.

    * Assisting with work on mechanical drives, bearings, seals and rotating equipment.

    * Supporting the maintenance and installation of industrial pipework and associated fittings.

    * Assisting with welding, fabrication and general mechanical fitting tasks.

    * Gaining experience working on industrial utilities, including steam boilers and compressed-air systems.

    * Supporting equipment installations, modifications and improvement projects.

    * Learning how to identify recurring equipment issues and contribute to continuous improvement activities.

    * Working closely with production teams to help minimise equipment downtime.

    * Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out in line with site health, safety, quality and hygiene procedures.

    About You

    * Recently completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, BTEC, HNC/HND, City & Guilds qualification, or similar engineering course.

    * A keen interest in mechanical engineering and industrial maintenance.

    * Basic understanding of mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, bearings and gearboxes would be advantageous.

    * Any experience of welding, fabrication or mechanical fitting would be beneficial but is not essential.

    * Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

    * Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    * Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

    * Strong commitment to health and safety.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a rewarding career within engineering, with ongoing training, development and progression opportunities available
