How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Manage deployments and verification / tests for remote Linux systems

Join a small, predominantly Cambridge-based, engineering team. Your new role would be varied and would involve carrying out manual system level testing to ensure software performance and usability, and taking the lead on the move towards automation. This will include deploying the finished releases to bespoke FPGA-accelerated Linux systems both on-site and overseas. You would tackle any emergent issues with the deployment and get involved with characterising and diagnosing problems with the software itself.

The company itself operates within the financial sector and relies on high-availability ultrafast processing and communications. Any issues will need to be dealt with in a timely manner and so some out-of-hours support may be needed from time to time.

    You will need:
    • Impressive academic credentials, with at least a 2.1 in Computer Science or closely similar subject from a well-respected university. (A proven ability to learn new skills and quickly solve problems is a key aspect of the role)
    • An excellent practical knowledge of the Linux operating system
    • Experience with deploying and testing software system including integrated bespoke hardware
    • Strong scripting skills with Bash or Python
    • A solid understanding of software engineering standard tools such as version control with GitHub
    • Existing UK work permission without time limit or sponsorship

Not essential, but knowledge of FPGA-based systems, CI/CD infrastructure, Rust, or Verilog would enhance your application.

The company have a relaxed professional culture and value diversity, employee development, and collaborative working. With their technology now proven, they are expanding to new markets and broadening their focus. A highly competitive package is on offer to the successful candidate.

Keywords: Verification, Deployment, Manual Test, Linux, Python, Bash, FPGA, Rust, Verilog, Cambridge
