How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    M&E Project Engineer

    Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland

    Work Model: Full-time | On-site / Hybrid

    Company Overview

Our client is a global consulting, engineering, procurement, construction management, and validation (EPCMV) firm delivering state-of-the-art facilities across high-tech industries. Specialising in mission-critical environments, our client partners with world-leading organisations to execute complex, large-scale projects from initial concept through to final commissioning.

    Role Overview

An experienced M&E Project Engineer is required to join our client's project execution team based in the Belfast and Greater Lisburn area. In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing mechanical and electrical engineering systems across high-profile data centre projects. You will act as a pivotal link between design teams, contractors, and client stakeholders to deliver complex building services on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

    Key Responsibilities

Project Engineering Lead: Coordinate and drive the engineering lifecycle for mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring designs meet project specifications, regional standards, and client requirements.

Site & Design Coordination: Interface between design consultants, MEP sub-contractors, and site construction teams to resolve technical queries (RFIs) and evaluate engineering changes.

System Integration: Oversee the installation, integration, and interface of critical data centre systems, including HVAC, chilled water, power distribution, UPS, generators, containment, and BMS.

Quality & Technical Submittals: Review and approve technical submittals, equipment data sheets, and design packages; ensure rigorous QA/QC compliance across all M&E packages.

Planning & Progress Monitoring: Work closely with Project Managers and Planners to monitor installation progress against key milestone schedules and four-week look-ahead plans.

Testing & Commissioning Support: Collaborate with commissioning agents to prepare, execute, and document system testing (Levels 1-5) up to final handover.

Commercial & Risk Management: Assist in tracking scope changes, evaluating technical variations, and proactively mitigating engineering risks on-site.

    Skills & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of project engineering experience within a construction, MEP contracting, or engineering consultancy environment.

Industry Experience: Proven experience on mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centres, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or complex industrial builds) is highly desirable.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of MEP systems design, construction sequencing, building codes, and commissioning protocols for critical infrastructure.

Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Revit/Navisworks (BIM), MS Project, and Microsoft Office suite.

Core Competencies: Excellent problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication skills, and the capacity to manage multiple technical priorities simultaneously.

    What Our Client Offers

Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Opportunity to work on cutting-edge, large-scale data centre developments.

Professional development support and structured career progression pathways.

A collaborative, dynamic, and safety-focused working environment.

Our client is an equal opportunities employer
