How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fawkes & Reece are currently working with a highly regarded house builder who are looking for an experienced Site Manager to take responsibility for a large residential development in Wigan.

    The successful candidate will take a key role on a 160-unit timber frame development, leading the site team and overseeing the day-to-day construction operations to ensure the development is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager looking for an ongoing position with a respected house builder, working on a busy development with an established project team.

    About the Role

    As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the development, overseeing subcontractors, trades and site activities to ensure the project remains on programme and is delivered in line with the required quality and safety standards.

    You will provide leadership across the site and work closely with the Contracts Manager and wider project team to ensure targets and key milestones are achieved.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site.
    Managing and coordinating subcontractors, trades and site labour.
    Planning and monitoring build progress against the construction programme.
    Ensuring plots are progressing efficiently and programme targets are achieved.
    Maintaining consistently high standards of health & safety across the development.
    Carrying out regular quality inspections and ensuring homes are built to the required specification.
    Identifying and resolving any issues that could affect programme, quality or cost.
    Leading site inductions, toolbox talks and regular site briefings.
    Monitoring subcontractor performance and ensuring works are completed to agreed standards.
    Maintaining excellent standards of site presentation and housekeeping.
    Liaising with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager and wider construction team.
    Ensuring all works comply with company procedures, building regulations and NHBC standards.
    Providing strong leadership and direction to the site team and subcontractors.

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in residential new build construction.

    Ideally, you will have:

    Proven experience as a Site Manager within residential house building.
    Previous experience managing traditional and/or timber frame developments.
    A strong understanding of residential construction methods and build sequencing.
    Experience managing multiple plots within a busy development.
    Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
    The ability to effectively manage subcontractors and site teams.
    A proactive approach to problem-solving and programme management.
    A strong focus on quality, health & safety and delivery.
    The ability to work confidently and independently while being part of an established project team.

    Essential Requirements

    All candidates must hold the following qualifications/cards, and these must be in date:

    SMSTS
    CSCS
    First Aid
    Recent reference for a newbuild housing development
