How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Children’s Residential Support Worker – EBD Children’s Home

    Location: Brighton, East Sussex
    Salary: £14.00 per hour
    Job Type: Permanent

IMPORTANT – EBD CHILDREN’S HOME EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL

We are recruiting 10 experienced Children’s Residential Support Workers to join a 3-bed Children’s Home in Brighton, supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

We are ONLY interested in candidates who have previous experience working in an EBD Children’s Home.

This is an essential requirement for the role. Unfortunately, candidates whose experience is limited to adult care, supported living, domiciliary care, schools, general childcare or other settings without previous EBD Children’s Residential experience will not be considered.

    The Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, consistent and nurturing care to children and young people living within the home.

You will support young people with their day-to-day needs while helping them develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Providing high-quality residential care and emotional support

Supporting children and young people with EBD and associated behavioural needs

Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people

Supporting young people to manage emotions, behaviours and challenging situations

Following individual care plans, risk assessments and support strategies

Promoting positive behaviour and positive outcomes

Maintaining a safe, stable and nurturing environment

Supporting daily routines, activities, education and social development

    Encouraging independence and life skills

Maintaining accurate records and completing relevant documentation

Working closely with colleagues, management and other professionals

Following safeguarding procedures and promoting the welfare of the children at all times

    Essential Experience

To be considered for this position, you MUST have:

✔ Previous experience working as a Residential Support Worker within an EBD Children’s Home

✔ Experience supporting children or young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties

✔ An understanding of safeguarding and working within a regulated residential children's care environment

✔ The ability to manage challenging situations calmly, professionally and consistently

We are particularly interested in candidates who understand the demands of working within a residential EBD environment and can demonstrate previous experience supporting young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

Please do not apply if you do not have EBD Children’s Home experience.

Experience in adult care, supported living, domiciliary care, nursing homes, schools or general childcare alone will not meet the requirements for this vacancy.

    What We Are Looking For

We are looking for experienced, reliable and compassionate Support Workers who are:

Passionate about supporting children and young people

Confident working with challenging or complex behaviours

Calm and resilient in difficult situations

Able to establish appropriate professional boundaries

    Patient, caring and empathetic

Reliable and committed to providing continuity of care

Able to work effectively as part of a team

Committed to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for young people

    What We Offer

    £14.00 per hour

    Supportive residential care environment

Opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives

Opportunities for professional development and progression

    Apply Today

If you are an experienced Children’s Residential Support Worker with previous EBD Children’s Home experience, we would love to hear from you.

Please submit your up-to-date CV highlighting your previous experience working within an EBD residential children's setting.
