How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Technical Assurance Manager

    Location: Essex

    Salary: £50,000 per annum

    Working pattern: Monday–Friday | 40 hours per week

    Reporting to: Site Technical Manager

    About the Business

    A well-established global food manufacturing organisation supplying premium food products to a broad customer base. The business places strong emphasis on product quality, food safety, sustainability, innovation and the continued development of its people.

    The Opportunity

    This is a key technical position responsible for safeguarding product quality, food safety and compliance across the manufacturing site. You will maintain effective technical systems, provide leadership to the wider technical function and drive ongoing improvements across standards, processes and customer requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain high standards of food safety, legality, quality and product integrity through effective technical procedures and controls.

    • Support site accreditation and audit readiness, including BRCGS and customer audits.

    • Develop and maintain effective traceability arrangements, ensuring products can be fully tracked and regulatory requirements are met.

    • Lead pest management activities and help maintain a hygienic, food-safe manufacturing environment.

    • Oversee product testing and environmental monitoring programmes to identify and control contamination risks.

    • Manage customer complaints, complete root-cause investigations and introduce corrective and preventative measures.

    • Deliver food safety, hygiene and quality training to site colleagues, helping strengthen the technical culture.

    • Monitor site performance, trends and emerging risks, taking proactive action where required.

    • Work collaboratively with operational teams, providing practical technical guidance and ensuring consistent compliance.

    • Lead the QA and Hygiene teams, ensuring routine checks, standards and monitoring activities are completed effectively.

    • Manage non-conformances from identification through investigation and closure, ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented.

    • Challenge and verify manufacturing processes to ensure agreed food safety, quality and compliance standards are consistently achieved.

    • Coordinate the internal audit programme, ensuring audits are scheduled, completed, documented and appropriately followed up.

    • Promote strong health and safety standards, reporting hazards and incidents and supporting site safety initiatives.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Strong technical knowledge within a food manufacturing environment.

    • Sound understanding of food safety, legality, quality and compliance requirements.

    • HACCP Level 3 or above.

    • Food Safety and Hygiene qualification at Level 3 or higher.

    • Good working knowledge of HACCP, VACCP and TACCP principles.

    • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop technical teams.

    • Confident communicator with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

    • Proactive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to manage competing priorities.

    • SAP experience would be beneficial.
