How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Overview

    Senior Clerk of Works job based in Manchester, supporting new build projects across the surrounding region. This role is suited to an experienced Clerk of Works with essential high-rise construction experience, strong technical inspection knowledge and the ability to lead inspection services. You will supervise other Clerks of Works, manage several projects, maintain client relationships and ensure workmanship and materials meet required quality standards.

    Role & Responsibilities

    Lead Clerk of Works services across new build projects
    Manage and supervise other Clerks of Works
    Act as principal client contact for construction quality
    Complete inspection records, photographs and required reporting
    Identify defects, snags and workmanship quality issuesYou will also support team development, including training colleagues and delivering relevant in-house CPD. Responsibilities include managing allocated client accounts and independently coordinating inspection services across multiple projects.

    Skills & Experience Required

    Previous Clerk of Works experience on high-rise projects
    Extensive knowledge of building materials and construction methods
    Strong defect identification and snagging skills
    Excellent organisation, communication and negotiation skills
    Proficient with IT systems and inspection technologyYou must be confident working independently within active construction environments and maintaining an impartial approach to quality inspections. ICWCI membership is desirable, or you should be willing to work towards appropriate membership.
