How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
    Start Date: ASAP
    Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term | Temp-to-Perm Opportunities
Salary: Competitive daily rates, dependent on experience

Ready to take the next step in education?

Are you confident working with young people and looking for an opportunity to gain valuable experience within a secondary school?

We are currently working with a supportive and welcoming secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor for an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to develop their classroom presence, behaviour management skills, and understanding of the secondary school environment.

The position could be particularly well suited to graduates, Teaching Assistants, sports coaches, youth workers, mentors, tutors, or aspiring teachers looking to gain further experience in education.

    The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising classes when the usual teacher is unavailable. Work will be pre-planned and provided, allowing you to focus on maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring students remain engaged and on task.

    Key Responsibilities

Supervise KS3 and KS4 classes across a variety of subjects.
Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students complete the required work.
Establish a calm, purposeful, and positive classroom environment.
Set clear expectations and manage behaviour consistently.
Provide appropriate support and guidance to students during lessons.
Monitor student engagement and address any issues that arise.
Communicate relevant feedback and concerns to teaching staff.
Support with break, lunch, corridor, and other general school duties when required.
Build positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues.
Act as a responsible and positive role model within the school.

    The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in working with children or young people through education, coaching, mentoring, youth work, care, or a similar setting.
Confident taking responsibility for a classroom.
Calm, patient, and consistent when managing behaviour.
A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
Reliable, organised, and able to adapt to different situations.
Professional and confident when working with secondary-aged students.
Passionate about helping young people succeed.
Previous experience working in a school is desirable but not essential.

    What's on Offer?

    Immediate start available.
Full-time, long-term opportunity within a Northampton secondary school.
    Competitive daily rates of pay.
    Weekly pay.
    Potential for temp-to-permanent progression.
Free CPD and professional development opportunities, including safeguarding, SEND, and behaviour management.
Dedicated support from an experienced education recruitment consultant.
Valuable classroom experience across KS3 and KS4.
Opportunities to develop your education career.
Potential pathway into teacher training for aspiring teachers.

    Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a secondary school while developing the skills needed to progress within education.

Whether you're an aspiring teacher, recent graduate, experienced Teaching Assistant, or simply someone who enjoys working with young people, a Cover Supervisor role can provide valuable experience in classroom management, student engagement, behaviour strategies, and learning support.

    Apply Today

If you're confident, reliable, and passionate about supporting young people, we'd love to hear from you.
