How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Technician

    About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join a Vehicle Production team, installing, integrating and testing electrical, electronic and communication systems on armoured and specialist vehicles.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with an automotive, HGV, military vehicle or industrial electrical background who enjoys working with complex systems and taking pride in producing high-quality, reliable installations.

You’ll work from electrical drawings, schematics and manufacturing instructions to build and install vehicle electrical systems, carry out testing and fault finding, and support the wider production team in delivering vehicles that meet demanding customer and regulatory requirements.

There may also be occasional opportunities to travel overseas for short periods to support projects and customers.

    What You’ll Be Doing

Build, route and install vehicle wiring harnesses, power distribution, lighting, switching and ancillary electrical systems.
Install and connect communication, control and surveillance equipment, including radios, intercoms, cameras, displays and sensors.
Carry out electrical continuity, insulation and functional testing using multimeters and other approved test equipment.
Record, interpret and report test results accurately.
Diagnose and rectify straightforward electrical faults, including poor connections, blown fuses and incorrect wiring or routing.
Remove and refit basic mechanical, trim and interior components to gain access for electrical installation work.
Work from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, pin-outs and manufacturing instructions.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with vehicle OEM requirements, company procedures and applicable defence and vehicle regulations.
Maintain accurate build records, wiring schedules and configuration information.
Support problem solving and provide practical feedback where installation, access or build issues are identified.
Work closely with mechanical, electrical and vehicle technicians to resolve issues and deliver quality installations.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, 5S and HSE, with particular attention to electrical safety and the safe handling of batteries and hazardous substances.

    What We’re Looking For

    Essential experience and knowledge:

Hands-on experience working with automotive, HGV, military vehicle electrical systems or industrial electrical fitting.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and pin-outs.
Understanding of safe isolation, basic electrical fault finding and protection devices such as fuses, circuit breakers and relays.
A methodical and systematic approach to installation, testing and fault finding.
Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
Ability to communicate electrical issues clearly and work effectively with colleagues from different disciplines.
    Desirable qualifications and experience:

Level 3 qualification in Auto Electrical, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics.
Level 3 NVQ in Bus & Coach Engineering and Maintenance (Electrical / Mech-Elec).
Experience with CAN-bus, vehicle networking or advanced vehicle control systems.
Experience working within automotive, defence or specialist vehicle manufacturing environments.

    Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to work on specialist and armoured vehicle platforms, applying your electrical skills to challenging, technically interesting projects.

You’ll be part of a skilled production environment where quality, safety and teamwork are central to what we do. The role also offers the opportunity to broaden your experience across vehicle electrical, electronic, communication and control systems, with occasional overseas project work.

    The Person

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and approaches electrical installation and fault finding in a safe, structured and practical way.

You’ll be comfortable working from technical information, confident using electrical test equipment and able to identify and resolve straightforward faults. Just as importantly, you’ll be a team player who is willing to share ideas, support colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement.

If you’re an experienced vehicle or industrial electrical technician looking for your next challenge, we’d love to hear from you
