How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Do you want to use your industry knowledge to inspire the next generation of agriculturalists while enjoying excellent benefits, career development, and strong work-life balance?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading land-based college set within the South Downs. With a 900-hectare estate, commercial livestock, arable and dairy enterprises, and programmes ranging from Level 2 through to BSc Honours level, this is an excellent environment for someone passionate about agriculture and learner development.

As an Agriculture Lecturer, you'll plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons across a range of Agriculture programmes. You'll assess learner work, track progress, provide constructive feedback, support tutorials, contribute to quality improvement, and work closely with employers and stakeholders to ensure learners are prepared for successful careers within the industry.

The ideal candidate will have experience within UK agriculture, farming, or the wider rural sector. You may have a background in farm management, livestock, arable, soil science, agri-tech, sustainability, animal science, agricultural consultancy, or a related area. Previous teaching experience is desirable but not essential, as full in-house teacher training, structured induction, coaching and CPD can be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Agriculture professional to transition into education, gain teaching qualifications, and make a lasting impact on the future of the industry.

    The role:

*Deliver Agriculture programmes from Level 2 through to higher-level provision.
*Plan, prepare and deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons.
*Assess learner work and provide constructive feedback.
*Track learner progress and support student achievement.
*Support tutorials, learner development and progression.
*Work with employers, stakeholders and wider industry partners.
*Contribute to quality improvement, curriculum development and promotional activity.
*Support open days, recruitment events and wider College activities.
*Full-time or part-time considered, from two days per week.
*Full teacher training, structured induction, CPD and coaching support provided.

    The person:

*UK agriculture, farming or rural industry experience.
*Relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience.
*Strong subject knowledge across areas such as farm management, livestock, arable, soil science, agri-tech, sustainability, animal science or agricultural consultancy.
*Passionate about supporting and developing learners.
*Teaching experience desirable but not essential.
    *Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    *Good IT skills.
*Committed to safeguarding, equality and student success.
*Flexible around full-time or part-time working.
*Based within a commutable distance of Plumpton, or open to relocation support.
*Looking for a long-term opportunity within land-based education.
