We’re now looking for an experienced Metal Shop Supervisor to take day-to-day ownership of our metal workshop at our Abbey Road facility and help drive production excellence.
The Role
This is a hands-on supervisory position on the workshop floor. You will plan, organise and lead the metal shop to hit production targets and deadlines, coordinating welding, grinding, bending and other fabrication processes while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day operation of the metal workshop
* Plan and allocate work across the workshop to achieve production targets and required completion dates
* Release and manage Works Orders in line with the production schedule
* Monitor the progress of Works Orders throughout the manufacturing process and identify any delays or potential issues early
* Coordinate activities between welding, grinding, bending and other manufacturing processes
* Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure materials are correctly issued against Works Orders
* Take full responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment throughout the metal workshop
* Ensure appropriate PPE is worn and used correctly
* Carry out regular workshop safety checks and maintain high housekeeping standards
* Ensure all manufactured products meet the required drawings, specifications and quality standards
* Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, productivity and workflow
What We’re Looking For
Essential
* Previous experience within a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment
* Strong knowledge of welding, grinding, bending and general metal fabrication processes
* Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment
Desirable
* Experience working with production planning or ERP/MRP systems
* Welding or fabrication qualifications
* Experience programming automation
