How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the opportunity:

    Our client is looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong general civils background to join their team in Kent.
      
    This is a hands-on Project Management role suited to someone who understands civils from the ground up, enjoys being involved in the detail and is confident managing projects from start to finish. Professionals who have progressed from a trade, engineering or site-based background into Project Management are particularly encouraged to apply.
      
    You will manage the day-to-day delivery of multiple civil engineering projects, taking responsibility for programme, site teams, subcontractors, Health & Safety, client liaison and overall project delivery.
      
    The work is varied, with projects predominantly across Kent, London, Surrey and Essex. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing multiple projects, solving problems and getting stuck in wherever required.
      
    The role is predominantly office-based, with regular site visits and client meetings.

    A strong background in general civil engineering is essential, with experience across areas such as:

    Drainage & highways
    Structures & bridges
    Concrete works
    Culvert repairs
    River wall repairs
    General civils & infrastructure
    Temporary works This is an ideal opportunity for a practical, experienced civils professional who has worked their way up through the industry and wants genuine ownership of projects.
      
    About the requirements:
      
    To be considered for this opportunity, you should have around 10 years’ experience within the civil engineering industry, with a proven track record of managing projects and site teams.

    You will need a strong understanding of day-to-day project delivery, including the preparation of Method Statements and RAMS, alongside excellent communication and client-facing skills. Strong Health & Safety knowledge is essential, as is a valid Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification and full UK driving licence.
      
    As the role is predominantly office-based, you must be located within a commutable distance of the company’s office near Maidstone, Kent.
      
    About the benefits and rewards:

    For this permanent opportunity, the salary has been left negotiable as the specifics will depend on previous experience and suitability however, successful professionals could expect to target a basic salary anywhere from £58,000 - £62,000.
      
    In addition to this, a benefits package will be available which includes a company van or car allowance (£5,000), 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enrolment on to the company pension scheme.
      
    Lastly, this role is offering an element of hybrid working (1 day working from home).
