How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    WORKSHOP MECHANICAL ENGINEER

    Job Title - Workshop Mechanical Engineer
    Location - Hastings, East Sussex
    Salary - £43,700 per annum
    Shift - 6am–2pm, 8am–4pm or 2pm–10pm
    Hours - 40 hours per week

    Job Role of the Workshop Mechanical Engineer

    A fantastic opportunity which is not to be missed by a strong Workshop Mechanical Engineer has come to the forefront. This is a great opportunity for any engineer looking to work within an established manufacturing environment and develop their career both technically and professionally.

    The site operates a range of manufacturing processes, including PVC injection moulding and extrusion, alongside associated production machinery, compressed air systems and cooling water systems.

    You will be responsible for carrying out mechanical workshop activities, repairs, maintenance and the production of components to support the manufacturing operation. You will be working from technical drawings and specifications, ensuring all work is completed accurately and to the required tolerances.

    This is a hands-on role working as part of a small engineering team, where you will be expected to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and safety.

    Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Workshop Mechanical Engineer

    Mechanical engineering or workshop engineering experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.

    Ability to read, interpret and work accurately from technical drawings.

    Experience producing or repairing components to tight tolerances and specifications.

    Desirable Requirements for the Workshop Mechanical Engineer

    Experience with CNC machining.

    Experience working with injection moulding or extrusion machinery.

    Experience within a toolroom or engineering workshop environment.

    Knowledge of 5S.

    Experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in the UK.
