How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Contract Maintenance Engineer

    Food Manufacturing | Leicestershire | Day Shifts

    We’re recruiting a Contract Maintenance Engineer to support a busy food manufacturing site in Leicestershire.

    You’ll provide engineering support to the production team, carrying out reactive and planned maintenance and helping to keep plant and equipment safe, reliable and production-ready — minimising downtime and supporting efficient production.

    The Role

    You’ll work closely with Engineering and Production teams, responding to breakdowns, completing planned preventative maintenance and identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    Responding quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise downtime
    Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing and routine inspections
    Providing reactive and proactive maintenance across plant, equipment and auxiliary systems
    Supporting Production to maximise equipment availability and efficiency
    Ensuring planned engineering tasks are completed on time and in full
    Completing maintenance documentation and keeping CMMS records up to date
    Maintaining high standards of repair, engineering practice and housekeeping

    What We’re Looking For:

    Qualified Maintenance Engineer – C&G / NVQ Level 3 or above, ideally with ONC/HNC
    Apprentice trained
    Multi-skilled, with strong electrical and mechanical experience
    Food or FMCG manufacturing experience essential
    Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
    Proactive approach to maintenance and supporting production
    Good communication and teamwork skills
    A commitment to continuous improvement and personal development

    Working Pattern:

    Sunday: 06:00–18:00
    Monday: 06:00–15:00
    Tuesday: 06:00–15:00
    Wednesday: 06:00–15:00

    Pay Rates:

    PAYE direct with Wagstaff Recruitment – £27.50 to £30.00 per hour
    PAYE through our accredited payroll partner – £35.00 to £40.00 per hour
