This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with strong audit experience to take the next step in their career. The role is client facing and offers the opportunity to manage a varied portfolio of SME audit and accounts clients, while taking responsibility for the delivery and review of audit work and supporting the development of junior team members.
The level of responsibility will be tailored according to experience, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager looking to progress or an established Manager seeking a new challenge.
The Role
You will manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients, taking responsibility for audits from planning through to completion while acting as a key point of contact for clients.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing a portfolio of audit and accounts clients, predominantly within the SME sector
Leading the planning, budgeting and scheduling of audit assignments
Ensuring audits are completed within agreed deadlines and budgets
Supervising audit teams including Seniors, Associates and Trainees
Reviewing audit working papers, testing and supporting documentation
Providing technical guidance and resolving complex audit and accounting issues
Acting as a key point of contact for clients throughout the audit process
Building strong client relationships and managing expectations
Reviewing draft financial statements and disclosures
Supporting accounts preparation and review work
Applying strong technical knowledge across relevant accounting and auditing standards
Supporting corporation tax work and providing input on wider tax matters
Mentoring and developing junior members of the team
Identifying potential issues and providing practical solutions
Taking ownership of assignments and ensuring high quality work is delivered
Supporting Partners and senior team members with ad hoc work and advisory projects
RequirementsThe Ideal Candidate
ACA or ACCA qualified
Minimum of 5 years' audit experience within an accountancy practice
Strong experience working with a varied portfolio of clients
Good knowledge of current auditing and accounting standards and company law
Strong technical audit and accounts knowledge
Good corporation tax knowledge, with awareness of VAT and payroll taxes advantageous
Experience supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Confident dealing directly with clients and building strong relationships
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Commercial approach with the ability to identify problems and provide solutions
Able to work independently, exercise judgement and take ownership of assignments
Experience working with FCA regulated clients would be advantageous
Strong Excel and general IT skills
Experience with IRIS, MyWorkPapers or Mercia audit methodology would be advantageous
Able to work effectively under pressure and manage demanding deadlines
