How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Build your career in platform engineering with this lively and varied role
Seeking a career in platform engineering? This role has ample opportunities to learn new skills and build your experience.
A successful company developing software solutions for improving efficiency in the energy sector. Their technology stack encompasses AWS, Azure, and their own servers, and their system needs to be reliable and secure as it's depended upon by major clients across the world. They are now seeking a bright engineer with experience of DevOps and security to join them.
As the Platform Engineer, you would be key to the success of the team, expanding and managing cloud infrastructure and automation, and taking ownership of server management and security compliance. You will naturally become expert across the full software stack and with a broad remit, this is an excellent opportunity to build a career in DevOps. The company use both AWS and Azure together with their own servers, so there's exceptional scope to pick up new skills and experience.
    You will need:
    • A strong academic record with a 2.1 or above in Computer Science or a closely related subject from a well-ranked university
    • Expertise in computer networking, Azure and/or AWS operations, and infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD (experience with GitHub Actions and Jenkins would be ideal)
    • Coding skills in Python, preferably with some exposure to JavaScript and Java
    • A solid understanding of IT security principles
    • Full existing UK work permission without time limit or the need for sponsorship
This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit collaborative team in a small company environment with plenty of variety. They are based in central London and offer a competitive salary and hybrid work pattern (up to three days per week work-from-home).
Keywords: Platform Engineering, Cloud, AWS, Azure, DevOps, Data Security (ISO 27001), Infrastructure As Code (IaC), London
Another top job from ECM, the high-tech recruitment experts.
Even if this job's not quite right, do contact us now - we may well have the ideal job for you. To discuss your requirements call ecm or email your CV. We will always ask before forwarding your CV.
Please apply (quoting ref: CV27703) only if you are eligible to live and work in the UK. By submitting your details you certify that the information you provide is accurate
