How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Developing software used for applied mobile robotics

to £60,000 DoE + share options; Cambridge - South

This engineering start-up has customer trials set up in the UK and abroad for their latest robots, and have further plans to develop their next generation machines. This small tech team are unafraid to experiment and try new approaches, learning and building up their considerable knowledge and know-how. They are looking to hire a (senior) Software Engineer to join them. The role would be equal parts writing code as well as test and experimentation of the robots.

    Requirements:
    - Demonstrable industry project experience in software engineering using C# (or possibly C++). Any exposure to Python would be desirable.
    - Experience with control systems and interfacing with hardware (ideally within a robotics context).
    - Comfortable working with hardware including testing software on physical machines.
    - Good general problem solver and communicator.

Interested candidates are likely to have a degree in computer science or electronic engineering, but moreover can evidence extensive relevant software projects involving hardware (ideally electromechanical systems).

No company sponsorship is available, and applicants should have full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK.

Due to the nature of the role, the position is fully onsite, with possible occasional UK or overseas travel to work with their mobile robots at trial sites.

On offer is a competitive salary and possible share options.

Keywords: C#, C++ / Python, Hardware, Robotics, Electromechanical Engineering, Control Systems, Onsite, Start-Up
