Location: Derby
First Base Employment are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Quality Inspector to join their busy precision engineering and manufacturing environment in Derby on a 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Inspector with a strong background in manufacturing or precision engineering. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, experience using a range of inspection equipment and the ability to confidently interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Contract: 6 months
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out First Off, Receipt and in-process inspections, along with inspection and calibration activities as required.
* Run CMM programmes, analyse results and make appropriate quality decisions.
* Use a range of precision measuring and inspection equipment to verify component conformity.
* Interpret engineering drawings, inspection plans, data cards, job cards and manufacturing instructions.
* Identify, record and communicate non-conforming components in line with company procedures.
* Support the internal non-conformance process, including raising rejects and ensuring containment actions are captured.
* Work closely with Engineering to support the successful introduction of new products through NPI.
* Support Root Cause Analysis activities following non-conformances and help implement preventative actions.
* Complete accurate work booking requirements within the MRP system.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation in line with 5S principles.
* Contribute to Continuous Improvement activities across the manufacturing and quality functions.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Previous experience working as a Quality Inspector within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
* Experience carrying out First Off and in-process inspections.
* Previous experience using CMM equipment and running CMM programmes.
* Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
* Experience using a variety of precision measuring and inspection equipment.
* Good understanding of quality procedures and non-conformance processes.
* Excellent attention to detail with a strong right-first-time approach.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Well organised, reliable and able to manage workload effectively.
* Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.
