How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Each customer and each project is unique and our deep technical knowledge means we are proud to deliver a bespoke and genuine 24/7, 365 days-a-year service.

We are committed to ensuring our staff have the right skills, knowledge & experience to deliver to our customers, as well as creating career paths to help develop, retain and motivate them.

    About The Role:

We are looking for Service Electrician to join the team at our Bedford branch.

As a Service Electrician, you’ll play a key role in keeping our temporary pumping equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently at customer sites. You’ll be responsible for electrical servicing, inspection, testing, fault finding and planned preventative maintenance throughout the equipment hire period.

Working independently across a range of customer locations, you’ll help minimise equipment downtime, maintain high standards of electrical safety and ensure our equipment remains compliant with relevant legislation and company standards.

    Main Responsibilities

    * Inspect, maintain and service electrical components of existing pumping equipment, including motors and control panels installed on customer sites.

    * Plan and coordinate allocated servicing and inspection activities, reviewing scheduled work through company systems and arranging site attendance directly with customers where required.

    * Ensure all necessary site access requirements, permissions, RAMS and customer documentation are completed in advance of attendance.

    * Produce and maintain accurate and detailed records of service activities, inspections, maintenance schedules and compliance documentation using company systems.

    * Conduct scheduled periodic electrical inspection and testing of installed equipment in accordance with BS7671 and BS7430 regulations, electrical safety standards and relevant industry legislation.

    * Perform fault finding and diagnostics on pumps, motors, control panels, inverters and associated electrical systems.

    * Maintain accurate records of servicing, inspections, repairs, maintenance schedules and compliance activities using company systems.

    * Maintain excellent internal and external customer relations by displaying politeness, respect and co-operation with colleagues, customers, and members of the public or other road users alike. When on site, act as an ambassador of The Workdry Group, promoting the company brand, products and image

    * Work independently across customer locations, travelling directly to planned site appointments as required and attending branches for operational requirements, meetings, training or where no site work is scheduled.

    * Carry out any other reasonable duties or specific tasks requested by your line manager in accordance with company policies and procedures.

This role is not ordinarily part of the reactive call-out rota. However, as business requirements develop, there may be an opportunity or requirement to participate in an on-call arrangement, subject to appropriate consultation and reasonable notice.

    Qualifications & Experience

    Essential

    * NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or Electrical Maintenance (or equivalent)

    * JIB Qualified Electrician and ability to meet the requirements to obtain an ECS Gold card - 18th edition (BS7671)

    * 2391 & 2392 City and Guilds qualification for inspections and testing

    * Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel on a regular basis.

    * Demonstrable experience working as an electrician in similar industry, preferably within the construction or pump industry.

    * Experience working as an electrician subsequent to the satisfactory completion of training and immediately prior to the application.

    * Strong electrical fault finding and diagnostic skills

    * Knowledge of electrical compliance and inspection requirements

    * Ability to work independently on customer sites

    * Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures

    * Good communication and customer service skills

    * Accurate documentation and reporting

    * Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics

    Desirable

    * COMPEX 1-4 trained to support inspections

    * Experience working with temporary pumping systems or similar plant equipment
