How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Junior Technical Engineer

    Location: Enfield, North London
    Salary: £26,000 - £28,000
    Start Date: To be discussed

I am currently representing a well-established and highly regarded manufacturer within the architectural lighting industry, who is looking to recruit a Junior Technical Engineer to join their growing technical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their technical career who is looking to develop their skills within a specialist and innovative lighting environment. Full training will be provided, offering the opportunity to learn the business from the ground up and develop valuable technical knowledge and experience.

The successful candidate will support the technical and design teams across a range of activities, gaining exposure to product testing, technical documentation, drawings and industry standards.

    The Role

    Responsibilities will include:

Supporting the technical team with day-to-day activities and projects
    Maintaining laboratory procedures and processes
Tracking and managing product testing requests and samples
Assisting with photometric, thermal and other product testing
Supporting the process of ensuring products meet relevant technical standards and requirements
Liaising with internal departments and communicating technical information clearly
Creating and amending product specification sheets and installation guides
Using Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
Reformatting and updating technical drawings using AutoCAD
Supporting the preparation of technical documentation for product and online publications
Taking part in internal and external training to support ongoing professional development

    The Candidate

This role would suit someone who is technically minded, organised and keen to build a long-term career within the lighting industry.

    The ideal candidate will have:

Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Teams
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Good time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
A flexible and proactive approach to work
The ability to work effectively under pressure
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD would be beneficial but is not essential, as training can be provided.

    Salary: £26,000 - £28,000

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to gain hands-on technical experience and develop a career within the architectural lighting industry.
