How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Secondary SEMH Teacher – Bolton

    Secondary SEMH Teacher Required – Full-Time Position in Bolton

    Cover People are currently seeking a Secondary SEMH Teacher to work within a specialist educational setting in Bolton. The school supports young people who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs, and is looking for a teacher who can provide a consistent, supportive and engaging approach to education.

    This opportunity is available from September 2026 and is offered on a full-time, long-term basis, with the possibility of a permanent position.

    Position Information

    Job Title: Secondary SEMH Teacher
    Location: Bolton
    Start: September 2026
    Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday
    Contract: Long-term, with potential to become permanent
    Rate: £160–£230 per day DOE

    Teachers who have previously worked in mainstream secondary schools, alternative provision, PRUs or SEND settings and have experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs are encouraged to apply.

    What the Role Involves

    • Deliver lessons that are accessible, engaging and appropriate for pupils with a range of learning and emotional needs.
    • Adapt planning, resources and teaching strategies to help pupils remain engaged and make progress.
    • Provide clear structure and predictable routines to support positive behaviour and learning.
    • Build effective relationships with pupils and encourage them to develop confidence and independence.
    • Record and review pupil progress, contributing to individual targets and EHCP outcomes where required.
    • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff, leadership and other professionals involved in pupil support.
    • Respond effectively to challenging behaviour using calm, consistent and positive approaches.
    • Play an active role in the wider school community, including meetings, training and professional development.

    Who We’re Looking For

    The successful teacher will:

    • Have QTS, QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
    • Ideally have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or behavioural difficulties.
    • Be confident managing challenging behaviour while remaining calm and professional.
    • Be able to establish positive boundaries and create a supportive learning environment.
    • Adapt their teaching to meet individual pupil needs and abilities.
    • Communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues, families and other professionals.
    • Show resilience, patience and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.

    Requirements

    • Current CV including full education and employment history.
    • Proof of Right to Work and UK address.
    • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new DBS application.
    • A minimum of 2 professional references.
    • A dependable and professional approach to work.
