How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Kingston | Putney | Fulham | Richmond

    Part-time, freelance | £20–£35 per class

    About Cygnets Art School

Cygnets Art School is looking for creative, enthusiastic and reliable Art Teachers and Teaching Assistants to join our team across Kingston, Putney, Fulham and Richmond.

Cygnets is a children's fine art school with 100+ locations across the UK. We teach traditional drawing, painting and sculpture through carefully developed projects, experienced teachers and professional-quality materials.

Our classes are designed for children aged 5+ and run after school and at weekends during term time, as well as during half terms and school holidays.

We currently have opportunities available for both lead Art Teachers and Teaching Assistants, so we'd encourage applications from people at different stages of their artistic and teaching careers.

You might be an experienced teacher or practising artist looking to lead classes, an art student or graduate looking to gain experience working with children, or simply a creative person with strong artistic skills and a natural ability to engage with young people.

You don't necessarily need to decide whether you're applying as an Art Teacher or Teaching Assistant. We'll consider your experience, skills and availability and discuss which of our opportunities could be the best fit.

    Sunday: 10:00am–11:00am – Kingston Studio

    Pay: £35 per class

Ideally, we're looking for someone who can cover both sessions, although we'd still be interested in hearing from strong candidates who can only do one.

    2.Putney – Teaching Assistants

    Tuesday: 3:30pm–4:30pm – Brandlehow

    Wednesday: 3:30pm–4:30pm – Brandlehow

    Pay: £20 per class

    3.Fulham – Teaching Assistants

Tuesday: 3:30pm–4:30pm – Holy Cross, Fulham

    Pay: £20 per class

    4.Richmond – Teaching Assistant

    Wednesday: 4:30pm–5:30pm – Richmond

    Pay: £20 per class

We're happy to hear from candidates interested in one or several sessions, so please don't be put off if you can't cover every day or location listed.

There may also be opportunities for additional work across our branches, including holiday workshops, private tuition, events and additional classes.

    The Art Teacher Role

Our Art Teachers lead groups of children through structured Cygnets fine art projects across a wide variety of mediums and techniques.

You'll be provided with the full Cygnets curriculum, materials and step-by-step training and resources for every project, so you won't be expected to develop your own lesson plans.

    We're looking for teachers with:

    • Strong core artistic skills across a variety of mediums
    • A genuine passion for art and creativity
    • Confidence leading and engaging groups of children
    • A warm, patient and encouraging teaching style
    • Excellent reliability, organisation and timekeeping
    • The confidence to demonstrate artistic techniques and support students of different abilities

Previous teaching experience or experience working with children is highly desirable.

    The Teaching Assistant Role

Our Teaching Assistants work alongside the lead teacher to help children get the most from their Cygnets classes.

You'll help students follow the project, provide individual support where needed, assist with materials and generally help the class run smoothly.

The role could be particularly well suited to art students, graduates, aspiring teachers, practising artists or other creative individuals who enjoy working with children.

We're looking for assistants who are:

    • Creative and genuinely interested in art
    • Friendly, patient and confident around children
    • Enthusiastic and encouraging
    • Reliable and punctual
    • Comfortable working as part of a small teaching team
    • Willing to learn the Cygnets approach to teaching fine art

Previous teaching experience is not essential for the Teaching Assistant role.

    Training & Support

Full Cygnets training will be provided.

Our curriculum includes structured guidance and step-by-step resources for each project, giving teachers and assistants a clear framework to follow while still allowing them to bring their own personality and enthusiasm to the classroom.

Where possible, new team members will also have the opportunity to observe or assist in existing classes as part of their induction.

    Pay

    Art Teacher: £35 per class

    Teaching Assistant: £20 per class

Rates are paid per class and include reasonable preparation, set-up and clear-up associated with the session.

Additional paid opportunities may also become available through holiday workshops, private tuition, events and other Cygnets classes.

    How to Apply

Please apply directly through LinkedIn with your CV/profile.

You don't need to decide in advance whether you're best suited to the Art Teacher or Teaching Assistant position. We'll review your experience and availability and consider you for the most appropriate opportunities.

As part of the LinkedIn application, we'll ask a few short screening questions to establish your availability, location and relevant experience.

We're happy to consider candidates who can work one or several of the available sessions.
