How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

A leadership opportunity within a growing planning consultancy.

This is one for an experienced planner who is ready to move beyond simply delivering programmes and take a genuine role in leading people, developing clients and helping shape a growing planning function.

I'm working with a specialist consultancy that's looking to appoint a Lead Planner / Head of Planning to work closely with the Planning Director as a key part of the leadership team.

You'll combine your technical planning expertise with team leadership, client development and commercial responsibility, working across some of the UK's most complex infrastructure programmes.

The role will give you responsibility across:

    • Leading, mentoring and developing a team of planning professionals
    • Supporting business growth, bids and strategic client relationships
    • Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and supply chain partners
    • Providing senior-level planning advice across major infrastructure programmes
    • Managing commercial performance and contributing to P&L
    • Overseeing programme reporting and presenting to senior stakeholders
    • Managing change control, compensation events and EOT assessments
    • Reviewing contracts and identifying programme and commercial risks
    • Driving collaborative planning, lean methodologies and best practice
    • Helping shape the future direction of the planning function

    We're looking for someone with:

    • Extensive Primavera P6 experience
    • Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts
    • Previous consultancy experience
    • Strong understanding of compensation events, EOTs and commercial planning
    • Proven experience leading and developing planning teams
    • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills
    • Excellent reporting, presentation and stakeholder management abilities
    • Power BI and advanced reporting experience
    • Experience across major infrastructure, ideally highways or heavy civil engineering

    Why consider it?

This isn't simply a step up in job title.

It's an opportunity to become a key figure within a growing consultancy, helping shape its planning capability, develop people, strengthen client relationships and contribute directly to business growth.

You'll have the opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure programmes while developing your career towards senior leadership and business management.

    Interested in finding out more?
