How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you hands-on, hardworking, and looking to build a career within a busy engineering and fabrication environment? You must be able to drive to site.

    We are seeking a Workshop Assistant to join our skilled team in Little Staughton, you will also be required to work at the Kempston Workshop and sometimes at the customers site. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced Fabricators, Welders, Fitters and Team Leaders, supporting the fabrication of high-quality products for the water industry.

    Responsibilities:-

    As a Workshop Assistant, you'll play a key role in keeping our workshop and yard operating safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

    * Assisting Fabricators with preparation work including cutting, drilling and tack welding

    * Supporting the assembly of tanks, structural steelwork, framework, pipework and associated fabrication projects

    * Receiving and organising deliveries and materials

    * Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop and yard environment

    * Managing storage areas and project materials

    * Conducting daily checks on overhead crane, forklifts and MEWP

    * Ensure power tools are readily available for 6 monthly PAT testing

    * Supporting safe working practices and promoting excellent housekeeping standards

    * Working closely with workshop, site fitters and management teams to help deliver projects on time and to a high standard

    As your experience develops, you'll also have opportunities to gain further training and support on-site installation activities.

    We're interested in individuals who are

    * Experienced within a workshop or industrial environment

    * Able to read and understand engineering and isometric drawings

    * Familiar with fabrication and welding practices

    * Highly organised with strong attention to detail

    * Committed to health, safety and quality standards

    * Hold a full UK driving licence

    Experience within the water industry, ISO9001 environments or knowledge of BS EN 1090 would be advantageous but is not essential.
