How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    MEP Commissioning Manager

    📍 Cardiff, Wales
    💷 £75,000 – £90,000 per annum + 25 Days Annual Leave
    💼 Full-Time | Permanent | Day Rate Considered

A leading specialist commissioning consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced MEP Commissioning Manager to join their growing team and support the delivery of major building services projects across Wales.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commissioning professional looking for a long-term, permanent position with ongoing project work.

While the consultancy works across technically complex and mission-critical projects, previous data centre or mission-critical experience is not essential. We are open to candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial and other complex building services projects.

The key requirement is strong commissioning management experience and the ability to take ownership of the Cx process from inception through to completion.

    The Role

As a Commissioning Manager, you will manage and drive the commissioning process throughout the project lifecycle, from design and pre-construction through construction, functional testing and final handover.

This is a management-focused commissioning role, rather than a witnessing-only position. You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure commissioning is properly planned, coordinated and delivered to the required standard.

The successful candidate will be technically capable, highly organised and confident managing people, processes and stakeholders in a fast-paced project environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead and manage the commissioning process from inception through to completion and handover.

    * Develop and drive commissioning strategies, programmes, procedures, testing plans and deliverables.

    * Provide strategic and tactical commissioning management support to clients and project teams.

    * Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, consultants, specialist vendors, clients and FM teams.

    * Review QA/QC and commissioning documentation, providing technical input where required.

    * Review commissioning procedures and RAMS prior to commissioning activities.

    * Review commissioning data against design parameters and implement mitigation or recovery plans where necessary.

    * Ensure plant and systems are fully commissioned, inspected and signed off in accordance with project requirements.

    * Lead and coordinate Level 3–5 testing and commissioning, including functional testing and Integrated Systems Testing where applicable.

    * Author and manage functional test scripts, commissioning checklists and closeout documentation.

    * Manage commissioning meetings, lookaheads, training and stakeholder coordination.

    * Coordinate all parties involved in testing and witnessing activities.

    * Identify, communicate and drive the closeout of commissioning defects, risks and outstanding actions.

    * Review commissioning handover documentation and provide input into O&M manuals.

    * Monitor commissioning documentation and ensure appropriate sign-offs are achieved prior to handover.

    * Maintain project risk registers and provide clear weekly commissioning reports covering progress, risks, issues and upcoming activities.

    * Support the successful transition of completed systems to the client and FM teams.

    * Promote a collaborative, solutions-focused approach throughout the commissioning process.

    Requirements

    * Proven experience in a Commissioning Manager / Commissioning Engineer role within the building services or construction sector.

    * Experience managing the full commissioning lifecycle, rather than solely acting as a witnessing agent.

    * Strong MEP / building services understanding.

    * Experience across commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial, data centre or other building projects will be considered.

    * Good understanding of commissioning processes, testing, QA/QC and handover.

    * Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors and project stakeholders.

    * Strong planning, programming, reporting and IT skills.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

    * Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

    * A proactive, resourceful and can-do attitude, with a focus on finding solutions and delivering results.
