How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    HR Data & Systems Apprentice

    Job Type: Apprenticeship

    Location: Halesowen, West Midlands

    We're excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a HR Data & Systems Apprentice to join our Group HR team. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in technology, data and business processes who wants to develop a career in HR systems, people analytics and digital transformation.

    About the Role

    As a HR Data & Systems Apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting our HR systems, data processes and payroll administration activities across the Group. Working within a supportive HR team, you'll help ensure our systems and data are accurate, efficient and user-friendly.

    You'll support a range of activities including:

    HR Systems & Process Improvement

    Supporting and maintaining HR systems, including Cascade and Hayley Perform.

    Creating workflows, automated reminders and approval processes.

    Building forms, templates and system screens.

    Identifying opportunities to improve and automate HR processes.

    Assisting with system upgrades, integrations and new functionality.

    Supporting user access and permissions management.

    Data & Reporting

    Extracting, analysing and maintaining HR data.

    Supporting payroll, salary review and budgeting activities.

    Assisting with employee surveys, reporting and data cleansing.

    Supporting payroll-related processes, including P11D administration.

    Ensuring data accuracy across HR and payroll systems.

    Payroll & Employee Administration

    Supporting payroll administration and employee record management.

    Assisting with onboarding, including offer letters and new starter documentation.

    Supporting UK and Ireland payroll activities where required.

    Employee & Manager Support

    Providing first-line support for HR systems queries.

    Assisting with password resets, system navigation and user support.

    Supporting the rollout of learning, performance and engagement platforms.

    Providing general systems and project support to the HR team.

    Projects You'll Support

    You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a range of exciting Group-wide projects, including:

    HR system enhancements and integrations.

    Learning and performance platform rollouts.

    Employee engagement surveys.

    Benefits and pension administration projects.

    Mobile app implementation and user adoption initiatives.

    Supporting newly acquired businesses as they transition onto Group systems.

    This varied role will provide valuable exposure to HR operations, systems management, data analytics and business improvement projects across a large organisation.

    Following successful completion, there may be opportunities to progress into roles within HR Systems, HR Operations, Payroll, HR Analytics or People Data.

    About the Apprenticeship

    Apprenticeship in HR Support level 3

    Duration typically 18-24 months.

    Study and coursework completed during working hours.

    Regular support from a training provider and your manager.

    We are looking for someone who:

    Has a genuine interest in systems, technology and business processes.

    Enjoys working with data and spreadsheets.

    Has excellent attention to detail.

    Is organised and able to manage multiple tasks.

    Has strong problem-solving skills.

    Enjoys helping others and providing excellent customer service.

    Can handle confidential information with discretion.

    Essential Requirements

    5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at grade 6 or above

    A level (or equivalent) in IT/Computer Science (preferable)

    Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

    Basic IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office especially Excel

    A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

    No previous HR experience is required, just curiosity, enthusiasm and a commitment to developing new skills.
