How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are working with a range of welcoming and well-regarded secondary schools across Northampton who are looking for reliable and enthusiastic English Supply Teachers to join their teams from September 2026.

    With opportunities ranging from daily supply and short-term cover through to longer-term placements, this is an excellent opportunity for teachers looking to gain experience across different school settings while maintaining greater flexibility over their workload.

    The Role

    As an English Supply Teacher, you will:

    Deliver engaging and purposeful English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with some Key Stage 5 opportunities available
    Follow existing lesson plans and schemes of work, ensuring continuity of learning
    Create a positive and well-managed classroom environment
    Support students in developing their reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills
    Adapt your teaching approach to meet the needs of different learners, including students with SEND and EAL needs
    Maintain high expectations for student behaviour, engagement, and achievement
    Build positive relationships with students and school staff
    Provide feedback to relevant teaching staff regarding student progress, behaviour, and engagement
    Quickly settle into different school environments and become a confident member of the wider school team

    About You

    We're looking for someone who:

    Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification)
    Has strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature
    Is confident delivering lessons independently across Key Stages 3 and 4
    Has strong classroom management skills and the ability to establish positive relationships quickly
    Is adaptable, reliable, and confident working across different school environments
    Can follow pre-planned lessons while maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment
    Is passionate about helping students achieve their potential
    Could be an experienced teacher, ECT, or teacher looking for greater flexibility in their working life
