How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    QC Manager

I am partnered exclusively with an international advanced pharmaceutical company that are continuing to expand operations both in terms of product delivery and site presence across the UK.

This specific hire will take management and scheduling responsibilities for all site Quality Control (QC) activities, with a strong focus on method development oversight and team leadership. A solid understanding of the full validation lifecycle is essential, alongside strong regulatory knowledge and an analytical chemistry background.

Whilst this will not be a hands-on role day to day, given the size of the unit, you will need to be comfortable spending time in the laboratory and supporting the team, particularly with out-of-specification investigations, method development, and validation activities. A strong laboratory background is essential, with experience in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and validation highly desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced people leader to help shape and develop a growing QC function. With approximately 75% of the team being newly recruited, you will have a unique opportunity to build team culture, establish best practices, and develop a high-performing department alongside site leadership. We are ideally looking for someone with around three years' management experience who can bring proven leadership skills and confidently manage the operational and people aspects of the role from day one.

    Key Experience

    * Experienced QC Manager, Laboratory Manager, QC Supervisor or Senior QC/Analytical Chem professional within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment

    * Strong laboratory experience, including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and analytical testing oversight

    * Experience managing validation activities and supporting method validation programmes

    * Technical experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC and/or GC

    * Previous people management experience, ideally 3+ years

    * Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor teams

    * Strong organisational, planning, and resource scheduling skills

    * Excellent understanding of GMP requirements and pharmacopoeial standards

QC Manager, Quality Control, Analytical Chemistry, HPLC, GC, GMP, Method Validation, Equipment Maintenance, Laboratory Management, Team Leadership, Validation, OOS Investigations, Pharmacopoeia, QC Leadership, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
