How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    I'm working with a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that's looking to appoint a Senior Rail/Bridge Engineer to join its growing Rail team.
    This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of rail infrastructure projects across the South West and Wales, supporting the delivery of technically challenging schemes within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
    You'll play a key role in developing and delivering civil engineering designs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, safe and sustainable solutions for clients across the rail sector.

    The Role

    As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll:

    Deliver civil engineering design solutions for rail infrastructure projects
    Support projects through feasibility, detailed design and implementation stages
    Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, calculations and specifications
    Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate project delivery
    Engage with clients and stakeholders, providing technical support and guidance
    Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards, safety requirements and client expectations
    Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing across the team
    Support and mentor junior engineers where appropriate

    What They're Looking For

    Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
    Working towards, or already holding, Incorporated or Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
    Previous experience delivering civil engineering design within the rail sector
    Strong understanding of rail standards, design processes and project delivery
    Experience producing technical reports, drawings and engineering documentation
    Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
    Familiarity with digital engineering tools and modern design environments
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    Proactive approach with a commitment to professional development
