How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School

    Location: Hackney, East London
    Pay: £108.68 - £115 per day
    Contract Type: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent
    Start Date: ASAP
    Commutable from: Islington, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Haringey, Waltham Forest, Camden, and Central London.

    Long Term Futures is recruiting a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive secondary school in Hackney. This full-time opportunity is ideal for someone with experience supporting young people with behavioural, emotional, or additional learning needs who is committed to helping students overcome barriers to education.

    Working closely with pastoral leaders, SEN staff, and classroom teachers, you will provide targeted support to students who require guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement. You will play a key role in creating a positive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

    Responsibilities

    Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural and emotional needs.
    Build positive, consistent relationships that encourage trust and engagement.
    Support students in accessing learning and remaining focused during lessons.
    Implement behaviour support strategies and restorative approaches in line with school policies.
    Assist with individual behaviour plans and targeted intervention programmes.
    Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional regulation.
    Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, SEN staff, and external professionals.
    Monitor student progress and provide feedback to relevant staff.
    Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
    Act as a positive role model both inside and outside the classroom.

    Essential Candidate Requirements

    Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker, Sports Coach, or similar role.
    Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional needs is highly desirable.
    Confident managing behaviour using a calm, consistent, and restorative approach.
    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    Patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
    A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
    Ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and educational team.
    Must hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
