How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is an established and rapidly growing specialist manufacturer of water pumps sold into the plumbing and heating merchant sector across the UK .

    As part of their continued UK growth, they are looking to appoint an ambitious and commercially focused Area Sales Manager to take responsibility for developing their presence across the North of England. This is a genuine field-based sales position, focused on managing and developing relationships with national and independent plumbing & heating merchants, winning new business and increasing sales across the territory.

    The Role:

    You will take ownership of the Northern territory and be responsible for driving revenue growth across both existing and prospective customers.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Managing and developing relationships with national and independent plumbing & heating merchants

    * Growing sales across the territory and achieving agreed revenue and margin targets

    * Developing existing accounts and increasing product penetration

    * Identifying and winning new merchant accounts

    * Building relationships with branch managers, area managers, buyers and senior decision-makers

    * Increasing product awareness and sales within merchant branches

    * Regularly visiting branches and customers across the North of England

    * Supporting merchant sales teams with product knowledge and sales opportunities

    * Conducting product presentations and demonstrations where required

    * Monitoring competitor activity, pricing and market trends

    * Identifying opportunities for new products and applications

    * Working closely with internal sales, marketing and operations teams

    * Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and providing regular forecasts

    The Candidate:

    * Proven experience in a field sales role

    * You must have experience selling to plumber’s or builder’s merchants

    * A strong understanding of the UK merchant/distribution channel

    * A proven track record of developing existing accounts and winning new business

    * Excellent relationship-building and communication skills

    * Strong commercial and negotiation skills

    * A proactive and entrepreneurial approach

    * The ability to manage your own territory effectively

    * A full clean UK driving licence
