How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Mechanical Fitter (TIG Welding and Fabrication)

    Location: Hayes
    Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 + Overtime
    Shift: Days

    Job Role

    A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a TIG Welder and Fabricator to join a growing FMCG manufacturing business based in Hayes. The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for mechanical fitting, fabrication and TIG welding, working on a variety of production and packaging machinery including conveyors, labellers, packaging equipment and multi-head weighers.

    The role will involve carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive mechanical repairs, as well as supporting the fabrication and modification of machine components, guards and frames. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter looking to develop their skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with opportunities for training, overtime and long-term progression.

    Non-Negotiable Requirements of “Welder and Fabricator”

    Must have mechanical fitting or mechanical maintenance experience within an FMCG, manufacturing, production or industrial engineering environment.

    Must have TIG welding and fabrication experience.

    Must have experience working with mechanical components 

    Essential Requirements of “Mechanical Fitter”

    Strong mechanical fault finding and troubleshooting skills.

    Experience using workshop tools and fabrication equipment.

    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

    Desirable Requirements of “Mechanical Fitter”

    Experience with manual machining including manual lathes and general workshop machining.
