How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lift Engineer

    Lift Repair, Lift Service, Hydraulic Lifts

    Portsmouth, Hampshire

    Basic Salary: £45,000-£50,000 per annum
    Additional Earnings: Paid travel time, paid overtime, standby allowance and call-out payments
    Benefits: Company vehicle, pension scheme, holiday allowance, ongoing technical training and long-term career development
    Call-Out Rota: 1 in 4, with call-outs reported to be rare

    Marmon Lift Recruitment is seeking an experienced Lift Service & Repair Engineer to join an established independent lift company, covering a route from Portsmouth to Reading.
    This opportunity is ideally suited to a capable engineer with a strong repair skillset and experience working on hydraulic lifts. Alongside planned servicing, you will diagnose faults and complete a range of repairs across passenger and goods lift equipment.
    The position offers an attractive basic salary, paid travel and overtime, technical variety and a manageable 1-in-4 call-out rota.
    Locations Considered: Portsmouth, Havant, Waterlooville, Petersfield, Alton, Basingstoke, Newbury, Reading and surrounding areas.

    The Lift Engineer Role

    Carry out planned servicing and maintenance across passenger and goods lifts.
    Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
    Complete minor & larger lift repairs, including component replacement and corrective works.
    Attend breakdowns and restore equipment to service safely and efficiently.
    Identify recurring faults and recommend appropriate long-term repair solutions.
    Test repaired equipment to confirm safe and reliable operation.
    Work across hydraulic and traction lifts from a variety of manufacturers.
    Participate in a 1-in-4 standby rota, with out-of-hours call-outs typically rare.
    Ensure all work complies with current lift regulations, safety standards and procedures.
    Complete service and repair documentation accurately, providing clear updates to customers and the service team.

    Ideal Lift Engineer Candidate

    Strong experience servicing and repairing passenger and goods lifts.
    A proven repair skill set, with the ability to complete fault diagnosis and component replacement independently.
    Strong knowledge of hydraulic lift equipment.
    NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
    Comfortable working across different lift systems and manufacturers.
    Able to manage a service and repair route effectively.
    Willing to participate in a 1-in-4 standby and call-out rota.
    Professional communication skills when working on customer sites.
    A full UK driving licence is essential.
