How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are looking for a Systems and Asset Data Specialist to join our team. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £38,510 - £45,529 per annum.

This role is open to full time, part time, and job share applications, all of which will be assessed equally.

    Join our team

We are looking for a Systems and Asset Data Specialist to join our dedicated team in Public Realm.

If you share our values and you are motivated to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities, we would love to hear from you.

    About the Team

The Public Realm Team is responsible for the management and maintenance of the councils’ countryside sites, parks, open spaces and play areas. The team also oversees the council’s tree stock, grounds maintenance programmes, street cleansing operations, including litter collection and mechanical sweeping, and the removal of fly-tipping across the districts.

    About the role

In this exciting, innovative role, you will lead the development and management of our Public Realm systems, asset data and spatial information.

You will be pivotal in ensuring that the information we hold about our assets is accurate, reliable and effectively used to support decision-making, service planning and day-to-day operations.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will provide advice, drive improvements to digital systems and processes, and use data and insight to help deliver efficient, effective and customer-focused Public Realm services.

You will play a key role in shaping how technology and asset intelligence support the delivery of services for our communities both now and in the future.

This is a hybrid role, where you will be expected to work from both the Mid Suffolk depot in Stowmarket and the Babergh depot in Sudbury, as well as from home.

    About you

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking data professional, with passion and drive to provide accurate data that supports decision making and continuous service improvement.

    To be successful, you will:

have experience managing and developing asset management systems, GIS and digital information platforms

have strong analytical skills and can use data and site-based information to support decision-making and service improvement

be confident carrying out site inspections, surveys and investigations, identifying issues and coordinating appropriate actions

have experience maintaining accurate records, mapping, asset data and land ownership information

be able to lead projects, system improvements and process changes to improve efficiency and service performance

be able to provide clear, professional advice to a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues and residents

have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality service delivery

work collaboratively and be confident building positive working relationships across teams and organisations

hold a full UK driving licence.

    60 conservation areas

    two National Landscapes

    many picturesque market towns

Generous leave entitlement (26 days a year, rising to 31 days after 5 years).

    Competitive Local Government Pension Scheme.

Wellbeing Support and Employee Assistance Programs.

We work in a hybrid way, with a mix of office, home, and remote based working (Business need permitting). Our hybrid working arrangements support flexibility and collaboration, helping our teams to thrive.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, providing opportunity and ambition for all, supporting and enabling our people to deliver the best possible services for our residents.

    Closing date: 5 pm, 13 September 2026.
