How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Personal Assistant – Care at Home

Supporting Children with Learning and Physical Disabilities

    Location: Borehamwood
    Contract: 12 hours per week
Pay: £16.00 per hour on weekdays and £18.00 per hour at weekends
Additional hours: Available during school holidays

    About the Children

Working within this family home, you will support two fabulous children aged 10 and 7.

E and L live at home in Borehamwood with Mum, Dad and their pet dog. They are loving, engaging children who enjoy being around people and listening to music.

L particularly enjoys watching Hey Duggee and Peppa Pig on the iPad. Both children enjoy swimming and hydrotherapy at school, visiting the farm and spending time in the school sensory room. They also have a family dog who E loves helping to walk and care for.

L is a loving, strong-minded and happy young boy who communicates non-verbally through sounds, facial expressions and body language. He enjoys cause-and-effect toys and other activities involving coordination.

E is strong-minded, determined and full of energy. She communicates verbally and through body language. E enjoys visiting the farm and has lots of role-play activities in her room, which she enjoys playing with.

    About the Role

The family requires support for three after-school sessions each week and one weekend daytime session.

E and L’s daily routines include personal care, observations and completing their therapy programmes.

Previous experience working with children with complex behavioural presentations would be ideal due to E and L’s sensory and emotional needs. Experience supporting with incontinence management and pad changes would also be beneficial.

Above all, your personality, passion and commitment to supporting the children are the most important qualities.

    Hours and Shifts

    Weekdays:

    - Three shifts between Monday and Friday
    - 3:45pm–6:45pm

    Weekend:

    - Saturday
    - 10:00am–4:00pm

Additional hours are available during the school holidays.

    Who This Role Would Suit

If you have experience working with children with complex emotional needs and are passionate about making a positive difference, this could be the perfect role for you.

    You will be:

    - Positive and calm
    - Patient and intuitive
    - Passionate about supporting children
    - Committed to helping E and L with all aspects of their lives

Due to a genuine occupational requirement, this role is open to female applicants only.

    What’s Great About This Role?

You will receive excellent individualised training, supervision and ongoing support. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills while working closely with experienced professionals and the children’s parents.

    Rates of Pay

    - Weekday daytime: £16.00 per hour
    - Weekend daytime: £18.00 per hour

Could This Be the Role for You?

You may already be working as a Children’s Support Worker, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant or Learning Disability Support Worker. You may instead be a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), Teaching Assistant (TA) or SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with special educational needs.

As most of the hours are after school, this opportunity could fit particularly well alongside an existing education-based role.

Alternatively, you might have experience in childcare, home care or supporting children with physical disabilities, complex needs or challenging behaviour.

Whatever your current job title, if you are compassionate, dependable and passionate about helping children with additional needs enjoy fulfilling lives, we would love to hear from you.

    Apply Today

This is a rewarding opportunity to become an important part of E and L’s support network while making a genuine difference to their everyday lives.
