How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Fire Alarm Service and Maintenance Engineer

    Location: Birmingham to Oxfordshire
    Basic salary: £28,000–£35,000
    Realistic OTE: £40,000–£45,000
    Employment type: Full-time, permanent

    The Opportunity

Valoris Group is recruiting on behalf of an established national fire safety provider looking to strengthen its service and maintenance team across the Birmingham to Oxfordshire region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased engineer seeking a secure, long-term career within fire safety and life-safety systems. It would suit an engineer with existing fire alarm experience or an electrician looking to move into a specialist, highly regulated area of the industry.

You will join a growing national business delivering essential servicing, testing and compliance work across commercial sites. The position involves regional and national travel, including planned periods working away from home from Monday to Friday. Accommodation will be arranged and overnight allowances provided.

    The Role

As a Fire Alarm Service and Maintenance Engineer, you will ensure fire alarm and emergency-lighting systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational.

    Your main responsibilities will include:

    *

Servicing, maintaining and fault-finding on commercial fire alarm systems

    *

    Testing and inspecting emergency-lighting installations

    *

Replacing emergency-lighting fittings and completing minor remedial work

    *

Producing accurate service reports and compliance documentation

    *

Working safely and professionally in line with BS 5839 and relevant industry standards

    *

Attending commercial sites across your allocated region and wider national contracts

    About You

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical background, good practical fault-finding skills and a professional approach to working on customer sites.

Previous fire alarm and emergency-lighting experience would be advantageous. Applications are also welcomed from capable electricians who are serious about developing a specialist career within fire safety.

    You will need:

    *

A recognised electrical background, either fully qualified or approaching completion of an apprenticeship

    *

Experience or practical exposure to fire alarms and emergency lighting

    *

Confidence completing emergency-lighting tests, minor repairs and fitting replacements

    *

Strong fault-finding, organisation and problem-solving skills

    *

Good communication skills and attention to detail when completing paperwork

    *

A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and work away when required

This is not a basic entry-level role. The client is looking for someone dependable, technically capable and motivated to develop into a specialist Fire Alarm Engineer.

    Salary and Benefits

    *

    Basic salary of £28,000–£35,000

    *

    Realistic OTE of £40,000–£45,000

    *

    KPI-based performance bonuses

    *

    Overnight allowance when working away

    *

    Accommodation arranged and fully covered

    *

Ongoing technical training and specialist fire-safety development

    *

Clear progression into Senior Fire Engineer and compliance-focused positions

    *

Permanent employment with a growing national provider

    Why Apply?
