A supportive specialist school in Thatcham is seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to join their team as soon as possible. The school works with young people who may experience barriers to learning, social difficulties, behavioural challenges and additional needs.
As a Youth Mentor, you will provide consistent encouragement and guidance, helping pupils develop their confidence, emotional wellbeing and ability to engage positively with education.
Key responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to young people
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Support students with their social and emotional development
Encourage positive behaviour and attitudes towards learning
Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence
Provide calm and consistent support during challenging situationsThis role would be particularly well suited to graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Education or Youth Work, as well as candidates with previous experience in youth work, childcare, coaching, care or support work.
The school is looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic, with the ability to connect with young people and remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging behaviour.
