How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Graduate) Finance / Health & Safety Assistant

    Location: East London
Experience: Recent graduate – 1 year’s experience maximum

An established drylining subcontractor with a turnover of circa £6m is looking to appoint a Finance & Health & Safety Assistant to join their growing team in East London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or junior candidate looking to build a long-term career within construction. The role has been designed to give the successful candidate broad exposure across the business, before allowing them to specialise in either a Commercial or Health & Safety route.

For the first 12 months, the successful candidate will rotate around different areas of the business, gaining an understanding of how a specialist subcontractor operates across finance, commercial, health & safety and construction operations. Following this initial period, they will be placed either into a Commercial or Health & Safety career path based on their strengths and interests.

    The Role

    * Rotating across different areas of the business during the first 12 months.

    * Supporting the finance team with invoices, purchase orders, payments and general financial administration.

    * Gaining exposure to commercial processes, including costs, procurement and subcontractor administration.

    * Assisting with health & safety documentation, compliance and site administration.

    * Supporting the preparation and maintenance of RAMS, training records and H&S documentation.

    * Working alongside site and commercial teams to understand the operational side of the business.

    * Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and site teams where required.

    * Assisting with audits, compliance checks and general business administration.

    * Developing a strong understanding of the financial, commercial and operational performance of a specialist construction subcontractor.

    * Working closely with senior members of the business and gaining exposure across multiple departments.

    Candidate Requirements

    * Recent graduate or up to 1 year’s experience.

    * Degree in Health & Safety, Construction, Quantity Surveying or another construction-related discipline, OR a Finance/Accounting-related degree with a genuine interest in construction.

    * Strong organisational and administrative skills.

    * Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately.

    * Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

    * Strong communication skills and a professional approach.

    * Genuine interest in the construction industry.

    * Ambitious and keen to develop a long-term career within the business.

    * Construction experience is not essential for the right graduate
