How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Science Technician | Laboratory Technician | School Science Technician | Secondary School | London

    Are you an experienced Science Technician looking for a new Science Technician job in London? Do you have experience preparing laboratory equipment, practical resources and experiments for secondary school science lessons?

    We are currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join an outstanding secondary school in London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Science Technician, Laboratory Technician, Science Laboratory Technician or School Science Technician to join a successful and supportive Science Department.

    Science Technician - Key Responsibilities

    Setting up laboratory equipment and apparatus for practical science experiments and demonstrations.
    Preparing science resources and materials for daily KS3 and KS4 science lessons.
    Supporting Science Teachers with practical demonstrations, experiments and laboratory activities.
    Cleaning, organising and maintaining science laboratory equipment.
    Preparing, mixing, storing and safely disposing of chemical solutions in line with relevant health and safety and COSHH procedures.
    Checking and maintaining scientific equipment and reporting any faults or issues.
    Ensuring science laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas are clean, organised and safe.
    Preparing materials for Biology, Chemistry and Physics practical lessons where required.
    Maintaining appropriate stocks of chemicals, equipment and science resources.
    Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the secondary school Science Department.
    Assisting with general administration, photocopying and preparation of teaching resources.
    Following all school safeguarding, health and safety and laboratory procedures.Science Technician - Person Specification

    The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working as a Science Technician, Laboratory Technician, Science Laboratory Technician or School Science Technician.

    Experience working within a secondary school, sixth-form college, college, laboratory or scientific environment would be highly desirable.

    You should have:

    Experience preparing science experiments and practical lessons.
    Good knowledge of laboratory equipment and scientific resources.An understanding of chemical handling, storage and disposal.
    Knowledge of COSHH and laboratory health and safety procedures.
    Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
    The ability to prepare practical resources accurately and efficiently.
    The ability to work independently and as part of a busy Science Department.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful secondary school and play a key role in supporting practical science teaching. Interviews are ongoing and the Science Technician position is available for an immediate start.

    Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
