How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You'll combine technical understanding with commercial awareness and strong project leadership, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.

If you know civil project delivery, understand the realities of utilities and infrastructure and want greater ownership within a growing business, we'd love to talk.

    Who We Are

Founded in Sheffield in 2004, CHG Electrical has more than two decades of engineering heritage. Built on strong electrical engineering foundations, the business has evolved into a multidisciplinary engineering partner delivering complex projects across water utilities, rail, steel and manufacturing.

Today, our capabilities span MEICA, EICAT, civil engineering, control-panel design and manufacture, automation, software and digital transformation. We support projects from initial design through installation and commissioning to long-term maintenance, combining practical, hands-on engineering experience with modern technology and intelligent thinking.

Throughout that evolution, the principles behind CHG Electrical have remained consistent: technical excellence, exceptional quality, safe delivery and trusted long-term relationships.

    The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you'll take responsibility for the successful day-to-day delivery of multiple civil engineering projects.

Working closely with Account Managers, Site Supervisors, Design Managers and Estimators, you'll coordinate technical delivery, resources, programmes, budgets and project risks while maintaining excellent HSE standards.

You'll also work directly with clients and commercial stakeholders, keeping everyone aligned, resolving issues proactively and ensuring projects meet specification, timescale and commercial objectives.

It's a varied role requiring someone who can see the bigger picture while staying close enough to the detail to keep projects moving.

    Where You'll Make an Impact

    Lead Successful Project Delivery

    • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of multiple civil engineering projects.
    • Plan and manage project teams, resources, subcontractors and materials.
    • Monitor programmes, budgets, risks and variations.
    • Ensure technical delivery meets project scope, specifications and compliance requirements.

Keep Projects Technically & Commercially Strong

    • Work with the Design Manager to verify buildability, compliance and resolve technical queries.
    • Review quotations and tenders alongside Estimators to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
    • Maintain effective financial control and identify project risks early.
    • Provide clear progress and performance reporting to senior management and stakeholders.

    Lead Clients, Stakeholders & Safety

    • Attend Client Progress Team meetings and build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and commercial leads.
    • Maintain excellent HSE standards across project sites and lead by example on safety behaviours.
    • Ensure projects operate in line with relevant legislation and CDM requirements.
    • Communicate project challenges, changes and risks clearly and proactively.

    About You

You'll bring proven experience delivering civil engineering projects within utilities or infrastructure and understand the practical, technical and commercial demands involved.

You'll be comfortable coordinating multiple projects and stakeholders, managing changing priorities and making confident decisions when challenges arise.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who takes ownership of delivery rather than simply reporting on it.

    You'll Bring:

    • Proven civil project delivery experience within utilities and/or infrastructure.
    • Strong knowledge of civil engineering and construction methods.
    • Experience managing complex programmes, budgets and resources.
    • Confidence managing project teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
    • Strong commercial awareness, including costs, variations and project risk.
    • Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM regulations.
    • Strong client and stakeholder management capability.
    • Excellent leadership, communication and practical problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with project management and reporting tools.
    • A collaborative and proactive approach.
    • Full UK driving licence.

    Why CHG Electrical?

You'll be joining a growing engineering organisation where you'll have genuine responsibility for delivery and the opportunity to influence how projects are run.

You'll work across varied utilities and infrastructure projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and continue developing your expertise as the business grows.

    You'll Also Receive:

    • £50,000 - £60,000 salary DOE.
    • Car allowance and fuel card.
    • Performance-based bonus scheme.
    • 25 days' annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.
    • Flexible working arrangements.
    • Ongoing training and development.
    • Clear opportunities for career progression.

    Ready to Take the Lead?

If you're an experienced Civil Project Manager who knows utilities and infrastructure and you're ready for greater ownership, variety and opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now and help deliver the next generation of utilities and infrastructure projects at CHG Electrical.
