How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor - Manchester

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Manchester Cost Management team, working on complex, high-value projects across a diverse range of sectors.

    About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join an established and growing construction and property consultancy, working alongside an experienced and collaborative team.

The successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of cost management and commercial services across a varied portfolio of complex projects. You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams, helping to successfully deliver projects from inception through to completion.

The role offers excellent exposure to a range of sectors and project types, providing the opportunity to broaden your technical and commercial experience while developing strong, long-term client relationships.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious, commercially aware and keen to take ownership of their projects and career development.

    Role:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects, providing high-quality cost and contractual advice throughout the project lifecycle.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Leading cost planning, estimating, procurement and contract administration activities.
Preparing and managing valuations, variations, payment recommendations and monthly financial reports.
Monitoring project costs, commercial performance, risks and opportunities.
Managing project changes and contractual obligations, escalating commercial risks where appropriate.
Providing advice on contractual matters and supporting the resolution of commercial issues and disputes.
Maintaining accurate cost data, project records, contract documentation and financial reports.
Working closely with clients, contractors, consultants and project teams to ensure effective project delivery.
Building strong, trusted relationships with clients and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Supporting commercial compliance and risk management.
Contributing to bids, fee proposals, benchmarking exercises, sector initiatives and continuous improvement.
Sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to create a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
    About You

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with strong technical and commercial capability, together with the confidence to work directly with clients and project stakeholders.

    You will ideally have:

A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
Several years experience delivering quantity surveying and cost management services within a consultancy, client-side or similar environment.
Experience working towards, or having achieved, RICS chartership.
Experience working across complex projects within the built environment.
Strong knowledge of cost planning, estimating, procurement and contract administration.
Excellent commercial awareness and an ability to identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients.
The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across different sectors and project environments.
Good IT and digital skills, with experience using systems to support cost reporting, financial tracking and project documentation.
A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Experience working as part of multi-disciplinary and cross-functional project teams.
Previous experience acting as an Employers Agent would be advantageous.

For candidates working towards chartership, structured APC support and guidance will be available to help you achieve your professional goals.

The business provides a broad range of professional services across the project lifecycle, including cost management, project management, commercial advice, building consultancy and strategic advisory services.

Hybrid working is also available, providing flexibility while maintaining strong collaboration across the team.
