How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Litigation Secretary

    Location: Southport

    Full-time | Office-based

    My client is currently recruiting for an experienced and highly organised Litigation Secretary to join a well-established legal practice in Southport.

    This is a full-time, office-based position offering the opportunity to work within a professional and supportive legal environment. The successful candidate will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners within the Litigation department.

    Key Responsibilities

    Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Litigation fee earners
    Preparing, formatting and proofreading legal correspondence, court documents, witness statements, and other legal documentation
    Managing diaries, arranging appointments, and coordinating meetings
    Handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls, emails, and correspondence professionally
    Opening, maintaining, and closing client files in line with firm procedures
    Managing electronic and paper filing systems and ensuring files are accurate and up to date
    Preparing court bundles and supporting the organisation of case documentation
    Liaising with clients, courts, counsel, experts and other third parties
    Assisting with the preparation and submission of legal forms and documentation
    Monitoring key dates, deadlines, and appointments
    Supporting fee earners with case management and general administrative duties
    Undertaking audio and copy typing as required
    Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately
    About You

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, Litigation Secretary or Legal Assistant
    Experience supporting fee earners within a Litigation or Dispute Resolution department
    Strong audio and copy typing skills
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
    Strong organisational and time-management skills
    The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively to deadlines
    A professional and client-focused approach
    Confidence using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
    The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team
