Are you an experienced SEND Teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are looking for a confident, resilient and engaging SEND Teacher to work with students aged 12–16 in a specialist education setting in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who thrives on building positive relationships and helping young people re-engage with education.
The Role
As a SEND Teacher, you will:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students' individual needs and abilities.
Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning.
Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate different learning styles and SEND needs.
Establish clear routines, boundaries and expectations within the classroom.
Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to create a safe learning environment.
Work closely with teaching assistants, SEND professionals and pastoral staff.
Support students academically, socially and emotionally, helping them develop confidence and independence.
Follow individual EHCPs, behaviour plans and safeguarding procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience teaching or supporting young people with SEMH and SEND needs.
Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
Is calm, patient and able to build trusting relationships with students aged 12–16.
Can adapt lessons for students working at different academic levels.
Understands trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to behaviour.
Is committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Holds QTS/QTLS or a relevant teaching qualification.
Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
