How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join an established and growing business within the power generation and energy sector.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with a strong technical background to take ownership of a range of energy projects, with responsibility across project delivery, commercial performance, contractors, suppliers and customer relationships.

    The RoleAs Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards.

    You will have responsibility for the commercial performance of individual projects, working closely with internal engineering teams, customers, suppliers and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Managing the successful delivery of energy and power generation projects.
    Taking ownership of project budgets, costs and P&L.
    Managing project programmes, resources and contractual requirements.
    Managing suppliers and contractors both on and off site.
    Monitoring works and ensuring quality requirements and ITPs are met.
    Managing customer relationships and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
    Ensuring compliance with CDM, Health & Safety, environmental and quality requirements.
    Working closely with design engineers to ensure technical deliverables are achieved.
    Identifying and resolving technical, commercial and programme issues.
    Managing contractual milestones, payment schedules and reporting requirements.
    Supporting continuous improvement across the Projects function.We are looking for a technically strong Project Manager who has experience delivering projects within power generation, energy, construction or a similar engineering environment.
    The ideal candidate will have:

    HNC/HND or higher qualification in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
    Minimum 5 years' experience managing energy projects.
    Proven experience within power generation, energy or construction projects.
    Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and civil systems.
    Experience working with reciprocating engines would be highly advantageous.
    Good understanding of NEC3 contracts and contract management.
    Experience managing project budgets and profitability.
    Strong understanding of CDM and Health & Safety legislation.
    Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects.
    Full UK driving licence.This is a great opportunity to join a well-established energy business working on technically interesting projects within the power generation and low-carbon energy sector.

    The role offers significant responsibility across project delivery and commercial performance, with the opportunity to work on projects from initial delivery through to completion.

    The position is predominantly remote from the Isle of Lewis, with travel required throughout the UK and occasional overseas travel for supplier meetings, inspections and witness testing.
    There may also be a requirement for occasional weekend and out-of-hours work depending on project requirements.
