How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

SITE / SENIOR SITE ENGINEER – CIVIL ENGINEERING

West Yorkshire | Yorkshire Projects Only | Permanent | Competitive Salary + Car/Allowance + Benefits

Are you a Site Engineer looking for a secure permanent position with a well-established civil engineering main contractor where you can work exclusively across Yorkshire and be home every night?

Fulcrum Recruitment is working with a successful principal contractor delivering a varied portfolio of highways, infrastructure, drainage, structures and public realm projects throughout Yorkshire.

The business has a strong secured workload, several regional frameworks and approximately three-quarters of its anticipated 2027 workload already secured, with further projects planned into 2028.

    THE PROJECTS

Typical schemes range from around £1m to £15m, averaging approximately £5m–£8m, although the contractor has successfully delivered projects valued up to approximately £65m.

    Projects include:

    *

New highways, road construction and highway improvement schemes

    *

Bridges, retaining walls and other civil engineering structures

    *

Major drainage and flood alleviation projects

    *

Cycleways, towpaths, footpaths and active travel schemes

    *

Public realm, streetscape and wider infrastructure improvements

Current and secured projects are located across Yorkshire, including Huddersfield, Brighouse, Elland, Bradford, Halifax, Barnsley, Sheffield, Kirklees, Hull, Scunthorpe and Rotherham.

    THE ROLE

Working alongside experienced Site Agents and Site Managers, you will take responsibility for engineering control and setting out across live civil engineering projects.

    Responsibilities will include:

    *

Setting out roads, drainage, structures and associated civil engineering works

    *

Carrying out surveys, level control, checks and as-built surveys

    *

Interpreting construction drawings and identifying technical or design issues

    *

Raising technical queries and supporting clash checks where required

    *

Maintaining QA documentation, site records, diaries and engineering records

    *

Preparing and reviewing RAMS and supporting safe systems of work

    *

Providing engineering input into weekly and short-term programmes

    *

Planning setting-out requirements ahead of subcontractors and follow-on trades

    *

Checking materials, quantities and basic take-offs against drawings and specifications

    *

Liaising with clients, subcontractors, utilities and the wider site team

    *

Identifying defects or engineering issues and helping develop practical solutions

Senior Engineers may also mentor junior engineers and take the engineering lead on larger or more technically complex projects.

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You should be a practical, hands-on civil engineer who enjoys working on live construction projects and takes pride in getting the job built correctly.

    Ideally you will have:

    *

HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent experience within Civil Engineering

    *

Previous Site Engineer experience within highways, drainage, structures, infrastructure or general civils

    *

Strong setting out and surveying capability using modern equipment

    *

Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, QA and site engineering principles

    *

Working knowledge of RAMS, Health & Safety and environmental requirements

    *

CSCS card and a full UK driving licence

Applications are welcomed from established Site Engineers, experienced Senior Site Engineers or Engineers ready to take the next step in responsibility.

    WHY JOIN?

    *

Yorkshire projects only – no national travelling or requirement to lodge away

    *

Secure workload with projects and framework opportunities extending into 2028

    *

Varied civil engineering schemes rather than being tied to one repetitive type of project

    *

Competitive salary, company car/car allowance, pension and associated benefits

    *

Financially secure, award-winning contractor with genuine long-term progression opportunities
