Comptons Kitchens is a well-established, family-run kitchen company based in Kent, and we are looking for an experienced Bench Joiner to join our workshop team in Herne Bay.
With three showrooms across Kent, we design, manufacture and install kitchens for customers throughout the county.
A large part of our business is the manufacture of our own handmade, bespoke kitchens, which are individually designed and built for each customer’s home.
We’re looking for a skilled joiner who takes genuine pride in their work and wants to become a long-term part of our team.
The Role
Working from our Herne Bay workshop, you will be involved in manufacturing bespoke kitchens and cabinetry from initial components through to the finished product.
Your day-to-day work will include:
Manufacturing bespoke kitchen cabinets and furniture
Producing doors, frames, panels and other bespoke components
Working with solid timber and sheet materials
Reading and working accurately from drawings and cutting lists
Using a range of traditional woodworking techniques
Operating workshop machinery and hand tools
Assembling and finishing cabinetry to a high standard
Producing one-off and made-to-measure pieces
Working closely with our designers, workshop team and kitchen fitters
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with strong bench joinery and cabinet-making skills who understands the level of accuracy required when producing high-quality bespoke furniture.
The right person will:
Have previous bench joinery, cabinet-making or furniture-making experience
Have excellent woodworking skills
Be confident using woodworking machinery and hand tools
Be able to work accurately from drawings and measurements
Have excellent attention to detail
Take pride in producing a high-quality finished product
Be reliable, organised and able to work independently
Work well as part of a small workshop team
Be comfortable producing bespoke pieces rather than simply repetitive production work
Experience within the kitchen industry would be beneficial, although we would also be interested in experienced joiners or cabinet makers from other high-quality furniture or woodworking backgrounds.
