How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commercial Manager
    LOCATION: Hull & Yorkshire
    SALARY: Excellent + Company Car
GW Power is an established M&E, renewable technologies, maintenance and decarbonisation provider delivering projects across commercial and public-sector estates. Its portfolio spans electrical and mechanical installations, service and maintenance, testing and compliance, and low-carbon technologies.
Due to expansion they require a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor ready for a step up. Reporting to the Operations Director, you’ll take ownership of the commercial performance of projects across the business. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who is ready to step into a broader commercial leadership role while remaining closely involved in the day-to-day commercial management of projects.
Working alongside contract managers, estimators, accounts, site teams and clients, you’ll manage projects from contract review through to completion. You’ll oversee valuations, variations, cost control, cash flow, contractual risk and project profitability, ensuring the business maintains a clear and accurate understanding of each project’s commercial position.
Alongside managing your own commercial responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to develop GW Power’s commercial function, introduce greater consistency across processes and provide trusted commercial guidance to operational teams and Directors.
    WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT
    * Lead and build the commercial department – managing performance and risk within an award winning, fast growing business.
    * Work across diverse projects ranging from £100,000 upwards.
    * Influence projects from contract review through to final account.
    * Work closely with operational, finance, estimating and site teams.
    * Make a measurable impact on business performance working closely with the Directors.
    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
    * Manage the commercial performance of projects from initial contract review through to final account.
    * Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
    * Monitor project costs, cash flow, profitability and commercial risks.
    * Produce accurate cost reports and forecasts, clearly communicating project performance to Directors and operational teams.
    * Review contract terms and ensure contractual requirements, timescales and notices are properly managed.
    * Support subcontractor procurement, appointments, valuations and account management.
    * Identify and manage claims, delays, disputes and other commercial risks.
    * Work with contract managers and site teams to maximise value and protect project margins.
    * Develop and improve commercial systems, reporting and processes across the business.
    WHAT YOU’LL BRING
    * Experience in commercial management, quantity surveying or something of a similar nature.
    * Provide commercial guidance across a varied portfolio of projects.
    * Review and manage contract performance, cash flow, costs, profitability and commercial risks.
    * Manage valuations, applications, variations, and final accounts.
    * Support subcontractor appointments, procurement and contract negotiations.
    * Issue contractual notices and help resolve claims, delays and disputes.
    WHAT YOU’LL GET
    * Excellent salary, benefits and company car/allowance.
    * A highly influential role across key projects and departments.
    * The opportunity to strengthen commercial systems and performance.
    * Exposure to contracts, finance, procurement, risk and client management.
    * A long-term career operating closely with the board within an established and growing business.
