How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teaching Assistants & SEN Specialists Wanted
    Smile Education are currently recruiting for Teaching Assistants and experienced SEN specialists to support pupils within a specialist educational setting in Rowley Regis.

    This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and want to make a meaningful difference to their development, independence and future outcomes.

    The setting supports pupils aged 7–19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, Global Development Delay and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties.

    As a Teaching Assistant or SEN Specialist, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide high-quality, individualised support.
    Depending on your experience, you may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or within the wider classroom environment.

    Your responsibilities may include:
    • Supporting pupils with a range of SEN and complex learning needs.
    • Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
    • Helping pupils access a personalised curriculum.
    • Supporting communication, interaction and engagement.
    • Developing pupils' confidence and independence.
    • Supporting personal care and wellbeing where required.
    • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
    • Helping pupils develop important life and social skills.
    • Supporting pupils to prepare for life beyond school.
    • Working closely with teachers, SEN professionals and other members of the wider team.
    • Following individual education and support plans.
    • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

    The Pupils
    You will be supporting young people with a range of additional needs, which may include:
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Moderate to severe learning difficulties
    • Global developmental delay
    • Communication and interaction needs
    • Social, emotional and behavioural needs
    • Physical and sensory needs
    • Complex additional needs

    The setting takes an individualised, child-centred approach, recognising that every pupil has different strengths, needs and aspirations.

    We are keen to hear from candidates with experience as:

    • SEN Teaching Assistants
    • Learning Support Assistants
    • Teaching Assistants
    • SEN Specialists
    • Behaviour Support Workers
    • Support Workers
    • Residential Support Workers
    • Youth Workers
    • Graduates with relevant experience
    • Candidates with a background in care or working with young people

    Experience supporting pupils with autism, learning difficulties or complex SEN would be highly advantageous.
    However, if you are passionate about working with young people, have the right attitude and are keen to develop your SEN experience, we would still love to hear from you.
